The story is set in the 19th century following the adventurous 11-year-old orphaned Anne Shirley sent to a set of middle-aged siblings mistakenly. Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert, who had intended to adopt a boy to help them on their farm, Green Gables in the fictional town of Avonlea in Price Edward Island, Canada.

 

About the author

Lucy Maud Montgomery (1874 - 1942) known as L.M Montgomery was a Canadian author best known for a collection of novels, essays, short stories, and poetry. Lucy published her first book Anne of Avonlea in 1908 following immediate success, establishing her career. Most of Lucy's works are set in her birthplace New London, Price Edward Island later making the Island a literary landmark.
