About the author
Jane Austen (1775 - 1817) was a English novelist primarily known for her works of novels involving the late 18th-century England, written in the topics of marriage, love and the pursuit of happiness in a society where woman are frowned upon without title and social standing. During Jane's lifetime she published four works including Sense and Sensibility (1811), Pride and Prejudice (1813), Mansfield Park (1814), and Emma (1816). After her death Northanger Abbey and Persuasion were published posthumously in 1818 Biographically with a biographical notice by her Brother Henry Austen, the first formal announcement of her authorship. It wasn't until many years later during the Victorian era that Jane was recognised as a great author.
